Intrepid donate CCTV system for animal rescue centre…

Puppy dogs in CCTV protected animal sanctuary

Here at Intrepid we’ve got a lot of time, and professional respect - for our four legged friends. After all, d

ogs are the original security and mankind’s oldest theft deterrent!

Long before cameras, AI and facial recognition dogs were doing their bit to protect our homes, businesses and livestock. Plus, we like them because they’re soft and furry and make us happy.  We’re keen on cats too.

We’re a soppy bunch behind the tough, professional image……..

Intrepid Security founder and animal-lover in chief Noel Verbruggen spends a lot of time at his house in Thailand and has grown to know the brilliant team at animal welfare charity Rescue P.A.W.S.

When Noel heard about problems the charity had faced with theft and its plans to move to a new custom-built facility, he and the team at Intrepid were eager to help.

Rescue P.A.W.S opened in 2013, and aims to improve the quality of life for stray animals through steralisation, adoption and education. The not-for-profit charity’s mission is to reduce the overpopulation of dogs and cats in Thailand, improve the well-being of the street animals and create a healthy relationship between the human and animal communities.

The charity, based in the Hua Hin District, has had a major impact on the stray animal population in its community,  conducting more than 11,000 sterilisations and 44,000 vaccination & parasite treatments, nearly 15,000 wound and skin treatments, and more than 600 adoptions. Rescue P.A.W.S. has significantly reduced the local stray population and enabled thousands of street animals to live safer, healthier lives

So what could Intrepid do to help?  Rescue P.A.W.S. had suffered break-ins and thefts at its previous premises – a big hit for a charity reliant on goodwill and donations. A CCTV system would be of huge benefit and luckily for Rescue P.A.W.S. Intrepid Security has built a large part of its reputation on its expertise in designing and installing CCTV systems.

Intrepid was delighted to help, and donated a large-scale CCTV system and installed 30 SERAGE static cameras inside and outside the new premises, providing 100 per cent coverage. The installation includes three fisheye cameras in each of the treatment rooms enabling the charity to provide live demonstrations of various treatments – a great tool for the education of the next generation of vets and volunteers.

Intrepid senior engineer Sam Neild flew to Thailand to carry out the installation, and after a round trip of nearly 12,000 miles, Rescue P.A.W.S. has a modern CCTV system up and running at its new facility.

External cameras around the site have LED lights for use at night, enabling full-colour imaging – providing both a visible deterrent and much-needed evidence in the event of a theft.

“Rescue P.A.W.S. envisions a future free of stray or neglected animals in the Prachuap Khiri Khan province, where education aids the change,” the charity said.

“We envision humans and animals living together in a harmonious environment, enjoying all that this beautiful country has to offer for reach. Our hope is that our approach can be adopted in other parts of Thailand as a model to reduce stray populations across the country,  and improve quality of life.”

“Intrepid’s camera solution is an incredibly generous donation and will make a real difference in ensuring we can continue doing our important work for years to come.“

Noel Verbruggen has been a volunteer at the charity in recent years.

“The idea of donating a CCTV security system came about when I heard that P.A.W.S were planning to build their own centre. I made the offer not realising that it would be eighteen months before we would finally install it,” he said.

The new site is more remote than the original one on temple grounds in Khao Tao. There was a need to be able to monitor the site when it was unattended and if any damage occurred. During the rainy season the weather gets pretty wild in Thailand so there is also a threat from storm damage.

“P.A.W.S has given a lot of satisfaction and the work they do is amazing,” Noel added.

Giving them a state of the art business CCTV security system seemed the obvious thing to do.

“Animals should have the same security benefits as the rest of us. These animals have had a tough time and are at their most vulnerable – they are depending on us to feed and treat them when they are ill. If our solutions can make their care easier and more secure then that’s enough reason for me”.
