Jameson say "Cheers" to Intrepid Ireland

The Jameson Experience located in Midleton, Co. Cork contacted Intrepid Security to find the right product to supplement their extensive CCTV package and Mike Costello, Intrepid Ireland’s sales and service Manager, suggested a site survey. This was  arranged with Ignacio Peregrina the General Manager, as other security suppliers had told Mr Peregrina that the distinctive foil embossed boxes and tins sold in the store would inhibit detection and therefore a tagging system would not be an option. Intrepid Security’s Mike Costelloe gathered a few sample boxes and tins, albeit minus the ‘Juice of the Barley’ and returned to headquarters for the technical team to evaluate.

  Intrepid Security have access to a multitude of EAS systems and having ruled out RF technology, focussed on alternative technologies, which are less susceptible to metal masking. Account also had to be taken of the the site having a number of shop fittings which could interfere with the system's detection.

Intrepid recommended an AM System, with each antenna installed 1.5 meters apart. At this distance, our AM labels placed inside the foil gift boxes were successfully detected and the system’s ability to ‘self sync’ made it stable, thus negating the need for service personnel to regularly retune the system to the dynamic environment.

The visitor centre is open 7 days a week and is locked down in the evenings, this made for a tricky installation which had to be broken into two shifts. Working a few hours in the morning and in the evenings, 5 WG antennas and 2 WG fast pads were fitted over a period of two days. Staff training was supplemented with a manual outlining tagging procedures and the proper way to approach a suspected shoplifter.

 Intrepid’s responsibility does not end there however. We visit all our customers when in the area, to check on the function of the systems and to get feedback from the staff using the equipment on a day to day basis, because we know that communication is vital to continue long standing working relationships with our customers.
