With 22.5 million business travellers passing through the airport's terminals annually, William Pound, vice president of international corporate development for security firm Absolute Software Corporation, emphasized the need for companies to take action to deter data thieves. "It is important that businesses have proper levels of security to help protect them against loss or theft," he said. "It is equally important that their employees understand what the company's security policy is and how to comply with it." He says business travellers should always have their laptop in a carry-on bag, use inconspicuous bags instead of obvious laptop bags, never leave the device unattended, advertise the use of security products like asset tracking software to deter thieves, add barcodes or engraving details to the laptop, and be extra cautious when passing through security.
